Science and Industry (S&I) is one of the oldest and most iconic Half-Life mods. First released in 1999 and still updated as recently as 2019, it blends teamplay, strategy, and humor into a unique multiplayer experience. Players take on the role of corporate security officers, fighting for rival companies in a battle over scientists, research, and profit.

Gameplay Overview

Each match pits two rival corporations against each other. Success depends on capturing and defending scientists who fuel your company’s research. Scientists unlock new weapons, gadgets, and upgrades—while simultaneously generating profits that determine victory. Teams must balance offense (stealing enemy scientists) with defense (protecting your own).

How to Install Science and Industry

1. Download the ZIP from the link above.
2. Locate your Half-Life directory:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life
3. Extract the archive into the Half-Life folder. After extraction, you should see:
   C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\si
4. Restart Steam. Science and Industry will appear in your library.

About Science and Industry

Instead of flags, teams capture scientists, who generate profits and power your corporation’s research. Matches are won by the company with the highest profit at the end of the game.

Each team starts with three scientists but can capture more to gain an advantage. Players also vote on which technologies to research mid-match, leading to powerful weapons, gadgets, and upgrades. This mix of teamwork, strategy, and humor makes Science and Industry a timeless Half-Life classic.
