Bubblemod
Bubble Mod is a server-side-only modification for Half-Life. Players do not need to download or install anything to participate, simply join a server running Bubble Mod. While these servers are now rare, Outpost 42 still hosts Bubble Mod for fans of this classic Half-Life gameplay.
Severian’s Mod
Severian’s Mod is a classic server-side modification for Half-Life that introduced unique gameplay mechanics, weapon tweaks, and quirky features. Since it is server-side only, players don’t need to install anything, just join a server running it. Known for its creative reimagining of Half-Life’s weapons and mechanics, Severian’s Mod balances skill, speed, and strategy while keeping the gameplay lighthearted and unpredictable.
Sunlit’s Half-Life Of Horrors Mod
SunLit’s Half-Life of Horrors Server-Side Mod v0.4 is a feature-rich replacement for the standard Half-Life server DLL, designed to bring more variety, chaos, and creativity to multiplayer gameplay. While it remains compatible with familiar Half-Life combat, it introduces a wide range of custom weapon behaviours, gameplay modifiers, and server-side controls that allow administrators to create anything from lightly enhanced matches to completely unpredictable custom game modes.
From throwable crowbars and Snark-powered teleportation to altered Egon and RPG behaviour, this mod adds a distinctive twist to classic Half-Life. It also expands weapon handling and combat flow through faster firing weapons, alternative grenade controls, adjustable spawn equipment, and specialised match settings.
It is kind of a fun take on bubblemod/severian mod - similar sort of style if you will, this mod is still running on The Dark Tower server [ 74.91.123.197:27015 ] - I have added this server to our Server Browser page.
Oz Deathmatch
Oz Deathmatch is a multiplayer, server side modification for Half Life designed to provide extensive configurability for server administrators. It was developed in response to demand for a highly adaptable version of the game, allowing operators to customise gameplay mechanics without altering the core DLL. All standard multiplayer features of Half Life remain intact, with the exception of single player mode. At the centre of Oz Deathmatch is its comprehensive configuration file system, which enables administrators to modify a wide range of gameplay variables quickly and efficiently.
Canned Tuna
Released in 2000 and created by randomnine, Canned Tuna is a classic Half-Life mod that throws away the idea that more weapons automatically means more fun. Instead, it strips the arsenal down to just five wildly distinct weapons and builds the entire experience around speed, chaos, and over-the-top combat.
Rather than aiming for realism or restraint, Canned Tuna turns every match into a frantic and often ridiculous fight filled with jetpack duels, instant-gib crowbar kills, powerful long-range shots and hidden sonic traps.
Half-Life Elite
Half-Life Elite (HLE) is a competitive mod for Half-Life Deathmatch, often considered the Opposing Force equivalent to Adrenaline Gamer. It introduces new modes, server controls, and features that raise the precision, variety, and competitive depth of HLDM.
Science and Industry
Science and Industry is a strategic team based modification for Half Life in which two rival research corporations compete for technological dominance and financial superiority. Players assume the role of security officers tasked with protecting their company’s scientists, advancing research, sabotaging competitors, and securing valuable assets. Victory is determined not simply by combat ability, but by corporate efficiency, intelligent research decisions, and coordinated teamwork.
Vampire Slayer
Vampire Slayer is a round based team modification for Half Life that pits physically superior Vampires against heavily armed Slayers. The design contrasts asymmetrical strengths rather than mirrored loadouts. Vampires rely on speed, mobility, and lethal close combat. Slayers depend upon ranged weapons, precision, and coordination. The theme draws directly from classic vampire mythology, incorporating staking, feeding, sunlight vulnerability, religious protection, and resurrection mechanics. Matches are played in discrete rounds. Death removes a player from the active round until the next begins. The result is a tense, methodical experience built on timing, positioning, and calculated aggression. You can find out further information on the official Vampire Slayer website.
